Sam's take on Kevin's Heart

Kevin's heart. First let's talk about the title. This directly references Kevin hart the comedian. But why? Well, in December of 2017, Kevin Heart had to publicly apologize for cheating on his pregnant wife at the time. They did end up staying together in the end with their 10 year anniversary coming up soon at the date of this post. But what's the song about then? This song is about high internal and external pressure as well as shame coming from the public. There is also lyrics to do with temptation and impulsivity that could lead to cheating even in a relationship as a celebrity.

Addiction. First it says "I love her I don't want to lose her" but then there's also the lyrics of "but she plants a seed and it still lingers in my mind" which is saying yes I have someone I love and I want to stay with them but at the same time I can't shake the temptations that are starting to happen.

The music video and what I think about it. It starts with Kevin hart in a car just driving around then he goes to a grocery store just to buy some things but everybody is staring at him with a big judgemental look on their faces like they do not approve. Even the cashier is slightly judging him. Then when he's at the register the music stops and he turns around and there's multiple people staring at him. It cuts to him in his car. On the News there's the "Kevin hart situation" which I talked about at the start since this song came out near the same time as that. Around 2018. Then he's at a red light. On one side of him, there's a car with a girl trying to tempt him. Kevin denies but another lady on his other side stares at him in shock most likely believing he was flirting back. Then he goes to buy a stroller but a women and her kid sees Kevin and wants to take a photo. The kid holds out the camera as the woman backs up into Kevin, getting in his personal space. Right after that he seems to be at a business meeting where a waitress comes up to his table with a note that says "at the bar" and when he turns to it a woman is smiling and waving at him and he just leaves to go to the bathroom. That's when one of the people from the meeting joins him there and while Kevin washes his hands he tells him "you're only human. Learn from it" and pats his shoulder and leaves. Then he goes home and it ends with the camera pointing up in the sky with a cloud saying "choose wisely" then it ends and I honestly think this was a great music video to match it.

J. Cole is a great artist and based on everything I've seen in this song I'd rate it a 8.9 out of 10
